Congratulations, you survived the end of the world. That means you’re very capable, pretty clever, or extremely lucky. Regardless of how you survived, not dying is just the beginning, and life after the apocalypse is not going to be easy. Be prepared for the end of the world as we know it and the post-apocalypse with Wasteland Hacks.
Antique stores have always operated on the principal that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. But in the apocalypse, this could really be the case. Let’s take a look in this month’s Loot It or Leave It.
Weapons
You probably won’t find functional guns, but you’ll might find swords, bayonets, and even full suits of armor. They may not be practical, but nothing says “back off” like a century-old saber laced with tetanus.
Furniture
Heavy, ornate, and useless for running, but solid wood never goes out of style. You can use it to barricade a door, build a fire, or spruce up the old bunker.
Decor
Porcelain dolls, creepy mannequins and dusty paintings are all great for psychological warfare. You can ward off thousands of people with a few hundred one-eyed dollies lined up on a roadside.
Tools
It’s not just hammers and screwdrivers. Antique stores are full of old farming gear, blacksmith tools, or hand-cranked oddities that can still get the job done.
Nostalgia
You can never go home. The bombs saw to that. But here you’ll be transported right back to your childhood through grandma’s furniture, your parent’s old Tv and an assortment of Happy Meal toys that are priced way too high.
________________
The antique store is equal parts trash and treasure. There’s junk, but there’s potential gold in those booths. So, loot it, but don’t get lost in your memories.
Have a great apocalypse.

You’re killing me. I remember walking in an antique store over 40 years ago and seeing my cannister set, red aluminum apples, and thinking “Whoa” that’s not antique. I was 30 at the time. Now as you’ve noted there are all kinds of things that fit that. Only I am old now!
